Except for the 1 message that was there when I bought the car, it's never down loaded another. Does anybody get regular messages? I'm talking about the app on the nav screen, not on a smart phone.

 

Nope, just that one time when I was setting up my nav for the first time.

 

Thought maybe there was some setting or something I didn't have turned on. What's the point of it?

 

Yeah what gives? When I bought the car and recieved that message, I was impressed on how advance lexus has achieved in this GS. Then fast forward 9 months later and still have not recieved a second message and thought to myself maby it function was broken on my GS. Until I found this thread I realized that its not specific to my car but a flaw in all our cars.
I was hoping it would send messages for firmware updates and recalls and even TSBs and promotions to buy or lease a car from lexus. That would be awesome to recieve this insider messages at least more than once.
Also another flaw is I recieved text messages on my GS for the first few days of owning the car and all of the sudden it just stopped working and no matter what I tried cannot get it to work again.

 

My iPhone 5, and now 6, both work with text messaging. And from what I've read here, so should android and windows phones. So all you need is to change your settings. Not sure about blackberry- if your one of the last 25 people that have have it.

 

I have text message problems too. Not sure what I settings I should change, according to the Lexus website, my phone is compatible and I enabled text message sharing on my phone.

 

Try deleting some of your messages? I read somewhere that having too many texts can be a culprit

I believe the OP is talking about Lexus Insider messages, not text messages. Lexus Insider messages contain things like audible tips for settings, Lexus news, etc. They are messages to you from Lexus.

 

After the 3rd picture scroll down on the screen to get this settings page, click on save

 

I'm responding to a poster #6 I should have quoted it.

 

Thanks I'll take a look. I'll also try deleting some texts today too to see if that'll help.
