Thumbs up Plasti Dipped front bumper

So I decided to plasti dip my front bumper, chrome surround and my rear emblems. The prep took the most time (of course) but it turned out pretty good.

Has anyone else done this?

after the first coat.

almost done.

finished product!

Love the results but would look better without front license plate cover. Thats why I will never live in a state that requires one. If my state ever decide to require one I would be moving away.

Looks really nice!!
I've never used plastidip - where do you get it from? (I assume it is just a spray?)

you can get it almost anywhere, home depot, lowes, menards, any home improvement store or spray paint store.

Looks awesome! Great job!

Does the plasti dip interfere at all with the park assist sensors on the front bumper?

I am in the military and don't really have a say on where I live. I also have yet to live in a state that does not require a front plate. If I do however, I will be sure to change my registration!

I got mine from Walmart. Costs around 5 bucks and is completely removable!

I have yet to check it out but I will be sure to report back later today.

the prep took about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. the actual painting process took about 20 minutes. I put on about 7 or so coats.

Did mine about a year ago, and still looking good considering it's seen a lot of road rash. I will be respraying soon. I sprayed completely all around the opening instead of just the center horizontal section.

just because the state doesn't requires it doesn't mean you need to. you'll only get caught if you get pulled over anyway and it depends on the cop, some don't even realize it. Don't be afraid to break the rules is what I'm trying to say. The ticket is like 30 bucks and its a fix it ticket too, not much lol

This is a very general statement and IMO its very bad advice. For example, in my state (NY) its not 30 bucks fix it ticket. It is a $218 fine, can be issued to a parked car or on a vehicle stop, and depending on how badly you've annoyed the cop, as it can can result in a court appearance if he writes for improper plates. They can also ticket you for dirty/improperly secured plates here in NY.

Before anyone decides to roll with no front plate in a state that requires one, PLEASE do the research for your state and make sure you're okay with the ramifications if/when you are caught.

I thought about doing the whole opening too, but decided to just do the bumper for now. But after looking at it, I think I will do the rest of the opening when I have some more time.
