Default Head Light no Auto Off?

If you leave the car with head lights turned ON... does it auto off?
I know it does on AUTO setting, i'm wondering if it turns off when set to ON.

If it does turn off, how long does it take to time out?

It does. After 10-20 minutes not sure exactly but it does. You can check with a timer and leave your parking light on.

Lexus changed the way the lighting and power systems work.

The lights used to time out after thirty seconds no matter what settign the lights were on.

Now the lights time out in thirty seconds in the auto position and turn off after twenty minutes when maually turned on. Also the car will turn the power off after twenty minutes, but not if the engine is running.

In the personal preference settings, I have my headlights turn off as soon as I open the door. Not sure, but I think that only works with the headlight switch in Auto.

I know the time out in the auto position. it will turn off once it sense that there is sufficient ambient light. but dont understand the 2nd part where it will turn off after 30 min. You mean when the engine is off?

does this apply to the interior lighting as well? meaning we dont have to worry if you forget to turn off the reading light after we off the engine?

Thanks.

If you have your lights in the "ON" position and shut your car off, you will get a warning that the lights are on and if you continue to leave it they will shut off after 20 minutes.

I honestly have not checked the interior lighting. I would assume they run through the power modulke as well. I will have to check today while I'm at work.

Thanks for the clarity. I seems to remember that mine when turn to on, will shut off immediately after the engine is turn off. I am pretty sure but will confirm later today. I am from Singapore and ours comes from Japan so mybe the configuration is different.

For the interior lights, my experience was that it will not turn off itself even after the engine is off for a long time. ideally it should. May be your is different at the other side of the pond.
