Hands free special characters?
I am having trouble using my phone to check my work voicemail while in the car. Most cell phones let you put in a number along with pauses and other characters for that purpose. For instance, to access my voicemail my phone contact list would have the phone number, a pause, then the extension and the “#” character, another pause, and then my password and the “#” character. The total string would look like this: 123-456-7788,,,1234#,,,56789# This works fine from the cell phone directly, but will only work through the cars hands free system if the call is initiated from the cell. The problem would appear to be that the contact list does not transfer to the car the special characters required.
It strips the sequence from: 123-456-7788,,,1234#,,,56789# to simply 123-456-7788.
My ES350 had “speed tones” and pauses that could be programmed to input my extension and my password separately from the phone number. I cannot find any equivalent in the newer GS system. I can do it with voice commands, but it is very awkward. Any ideas?

I have to admit I've never experienced this particular problem. I recall reading in the owners manual that the dialing sequence for an international call and a domestic is different in the GS system because of that specific number length problem. I would read up on int'l calls and see if that will allow you more dialing flexibility.

No, that didn't work. It did show that the format is to use "p" for a pause. However, when I put that into my contacts, the number will not transfer to the car and there is no way to edit or add a contact once it has transferred to the car. I think it is an iPhone issue.
