Default So My Navigation Clunked Out!

So driving to New Jersey and all of a sudden passing by Newark airport my navigation just randomly when crazy and was driving over water. Has anyone heard of this and does anyone have any idea what I can do. I'm going to try to take it to the Lexus dealership in NJ, Here is a video of it

You lost your GPS signal. If you look closely your "GPS" text from your navigation is greyed out.

Or he fell asleep and drove into the drink..... On a serious note, there are known problems with GPS in that area to include truck drivers being known to use GPS jamming devices to prevent their corporate watchdogs from knowing exactly what they are doing. I would venture a guess that it was jamming.

My audio froze and my nav map disappeared this morning for the second time this week. I was on terra firma and the only facility nearby was a Ford plant.

Here is a dealer typical response. "Maybe Lexus is wirelessly updating the system at the time" complete bull but this what some forum members have been getting as answer.

There are certain areas where the car can lose the GPS signal (downtown areas surrounded by tall buildings, even areas of strong radio/EM emissions)...When that happens, the unit will try and find the signal, and the display will be inaccurate (including showing you driving in the water!)

I had a similar situation driving in downtown Tampa with my old Pioneer navi in my Infiniti - Showed me driving in the middle of the river.

Yep. There is one particular place that my GPS always acts up... and I live in Germany so it's not just in the USA that it happens.

Well I took it to Lexus of Atlantic City and they basically said its working fine, I guess I'm gonna have to check it when I get back up to Boston as I have no traffic anymore and they seem to not know what to do. At the moment it is running alright but gonna get it checked.

Call XM and ask them to send a refresh. You'll need your radio ID that you can get on XM channel 0. Hope that helps!

I don't think the XM signal has an effect on the native Lexus navigation function - The XM Traffic function, yes, but the basic Lexus Navi function, no...Otherwise, you could not have the navigation system work if you did not continue the XM subscription for traffic and weather.

I really do not think you have an issue - I think that due to your proximity to the airport, your unit lost the GPS signal temporarily as a result of EM interference.

Yes, but if I understood correctly his nav functionality was back to normal except traffic. Hence the recommendation to refresh XM. Hope I understood correctly......
