Default Help! Car will not open or start?

Hi Guys,

I have a 2013 GS350 AWD, i woke up this morning and tried to use my key fob to open the car, it would not work, even though the red light was blinking on the key fob. I had to manually open the car with the key. The car would not detect the key fob at all to even start. I'm guessing maybe dead battery? I tried to lock the doors with the button in the car and that would not work either, i had to manually click the lock and have my wife drive me to work. Any ideas or do you think its just the battery and i need a jump?

Thanks and all help is appreciated.

The car doesn't acknowledge the key fob at all so it doesn't get a chance to crank.

if you place the keyfob (lexus emblem side) on the engine on/off switch while the brake pedal is pressed, does the key indicator come up in the multi-information display?

yeah if the fob battery is really bad, you can place is very close to the start button and that should hopefully allow it to recognize the key and start

I'll try again when i get home from work, I tried to start her with both of my key fobs and neither worked to open the car or start it. Really weird.

this and no one can tell what is wrong wonder who was reading

if you have no power inside your car its not the FOB its your car battery. Charge it or get a jump. Possible you left it in ACC mode (pushed start button twice when shutting car off) as its been common in all models to happen. Or something was drawing against the battery. Either way should be an easy fix

Thanks buddy, that was also my conclusion, it has to be the battery rather than 2 seperate key fobs. I'll jump it when I get home and conclude my story.

I agree-sounds like the battery. Did you see any cabin lights come on when you opened the door? Or the door open indicator?

I've noticed what sounds like a compressor running coming from the rear of my car in the middle of the night. Has happened 4-5 times. Keeps running til I turn on the ignition. I'm fairly sure the car would have been dead in the morning had I not caught it. If these cars have load leveling ( I don't know) I would guess that is the noise.

I've heard it with my car too. Asked the dealership and they explained that its the fuel system vapor recovery pump and nothing to be concerned with.
