Default oil change?

Did most of you do a 1k oil change or 5k?

The dealer is telling me they wont do it until 10k?

Thanks,

1K is inspection and LPS,,, 5K is also inspection, tires brakes etc. top off fluids,,, 10K is the actual oil change and every thing done in 1&5K inspection. i was going to do the oil change at 5K instead of waiting for 10K. i believe your tires are rotated at 5K.

Some people like to do oil changes earlier then the recommend first service (early as 1k) to clear out any metal shavings from it being a new motor. On these cars the motors should already be broken in the from the factory, so there's no need to do so. Everyone is different though, if doing it earlier gives you piece of mind, go for it

You can pay for an oil change anytime you want.

The FREE 1k is inspection and LPS stuff
The FREE 5k is 1k + tire rotation (where applicable)
The FREE 10k is rotation, oil/filter change and CABIN FILTER change.

The 0w-20 only cars are 10k interval. 5k for rotation.
The 0w-20/5w-20 cars are still 5k interval even if you always use 0w-20.

At 1k, I took it in for an oil change. I'm sure it didn't hurt. Maybe a waste of money, but maybe not. Differing views on the "change oil at 1k" argument.

Changed the oil at 5k once again, with the first maintenance appt. It's only money, but it's a great car and deserves special treatment. The 10k oil change will be on them...

I know this is an old threat but I don't want to open another oil threat , So I like to ask which oil you guys use for self doing oil change. I used to use Royal Purple but thinking switch to Mobil 1 and I like to change it around 7k.

0w20 or 5w20? I like in a cold climate east coast.

I use Amsoil 0w20. I don't recromend using a higher viscosity oil because these engines are manufactuered with tight tolerances and tuned by lexus to get the most MPG and POWER from it and if they say use 0w20 then use 0w20.
