Default Lexus Night View System

Have any of you ordered Lexus Night View with your Luxury Package GS?

I had a chance to try it out a few weeks ago and found it to be a cool novel feature. Is it worth the $2,200 MSRP premium? It all depends on where you live. Rural areas, yes...if you live in an urban or suburban area thats well lit, no.

If you select the Lexus Night View system, you cannot package Lane Keep Assist (LKA) with it because the LNV and LKA systems use the same camera mount location in the top part of the windshield. You can't have both, just one or the other.

Damn that would be a pretty cool feature to have

Dunno if i'd pay that kinda price for it, but I could see this coming in handy for sure.

Too high. Cool though. Cadillac had it a few years ago and charged $2,000 dollars and could not sell enough to keep it as an option.

Price aside. Between the night view and the LKA, I rather have the night view. It's a true technology where as LKA is more of a gimmick(keep the car in the marked lane). This will be helpful to spot deer on the road(?)

One gimmick to far for me Iam afraid, plus you will only see the deer if your looking at the screen, and I don’t think I will come across to many deer’s driving in London. .lol

Idrive through rural areas in the wee hours of the mornings. Having a warning about deer, hogs, or cows on the road would be well worth the $2200 to me.

Nightview and HUD are still infant technologies but they are priced as full features.

They both suffer from not offering complete experience. Nightview will shine only when they make the whole windshield highlight warm blooded creatures. Looking at the relatively small screen is not the way to go. I would say previous gen LX had better implementation.

HUD is the exact same thing. Windshields should act as a screen for augmented reality with building highlighting, dynamic navigation, etc.

HUD has been around for 10 yrs. I know of. Had three corvettes going back to 02 and they all had HUD. I included it on my ordered GS350 after a demo in one that had it. some will love it and some will love it. No right or wrong. Just opinions.

I tried the HUD briefly in a friend's corvette, and thought it was a gimmick, far less interesting than it sounds. In the GS, I find it very useful. I'm far more aware of my speed with it than with the speedometer, for example. I couldn't tell you whether this is because I'm used to it now or whether the GS version somehow looks/works better than the corvette version.

As for the night vision, I think it's a cool idea. I just can't imagine how useful it would be, since you'll be watching the road, not the screen off to one side. I guess on a long dark straight road, it would be useful, since you would not have to pay close attention to curves, and could keep the screen in your peripheral vision.

I prefer LKA over Night View.

How many times you got a chance to use it? I found it more distract than benefit. And overpriced too.

The windshield wouldn't be active but rather passive and serve only as a screen. The projector would do all the work.
This is a very cool idea and I bet you that someone's already working on it.

Does anyone else wonder what the floating fish is that the night view system revealed in the picture at the top of this thread?

The floating fish is the neon sign at public market/pike market in Seattle.
