Default Does Anyone Get BRIGHT CHROME Wheels Anymore?

Is anyone having their GS450 wheels chromed by Lexus anymore or is this just a passing fad. I can't find any photos with bright chrome wheels on a 2013 GS450 with 18" Split Five-Spoke Alloy Wheels with Superchrome finish. My dealer charges $1395 to have your wheels triple-dipped in chrome. Any opinions on having your wheels re-finished with a bright chrome finish?

The local Lexus dealer had a base GS 350 in stock with a set of chrome wheels. I believe they were 19 inch. They were offed to me, allegedly at dealer cost for $1000. They were too flashy for my taste.

Send them out yourself and cut the dealer out

Can they dip the OEM wheels in chrome without doing any sort of sanding or priming of the wheels? I don't know how that process works.

I guess its very rare these days. Look to gaudy and cheap but that is the majority opinion. However if it is done nicely then I don't think its bad.

I had the optional 18" factory chrome wheels on my LS430. They looked good on the car, but my preference was / is for something a bit less blingy. I didn't run the chrome wheels in the winter as the salt is rough on them.

I think the chrome wheels look good on a true luxury car like LS460, but not on a sporty car like GS350.
Once I saw a picture of a LS with GOLD chrome. That is luxury.

dealers send wheels out to get chrome treatment to sell you a 'dealer package'

Maybe you can find chrome wheels on EBay

Wheel Specialists in Tempe, AZ will chrome your OEM wheels for you. You give them your stock wheels and they give you an exact same set that has been chromed. Their quality is great. I did this for my 2010 Honda Accord and my 2011 IS250. They only charged me $800.

The one GS450h my dealer has been able to locate and reserve for me has this, the 18" 5-spoke "super chrome." I appear to be getting a bargain, too, as the mark-up for that option is $865. Odd thing is, I didn't go out of my way to request this feature; I would have been fine with the base 17" wheels. Given the amount of driving I do, I fear I'll eat through tires that much faster with the upgrade. The car itself is black. I'm looking forward to seeing it, though it'll be another month and a half.

Why is it taking 1.5 months to transport it? If they gave you a VIN, it has been built and most likely on the ship.

The 5-spoke super chrome tires are optional but they are not the shiny after-market chrome I'm talking about. They have basically the same finish as the other OEM wheels.

I just saw this past Sunday in a So Cal Lexus dealer's show room a white GS with 18" shiny Chrome wheels. The dealer's mark up for it - $2100. Ouch!

I am not sure why the long wait time. The 450h is supposed to be out in May. Probably too early, given it's only May 2nd as of this posting, but are any of you either seeing one or know of any headed towards your dealerships? It's hard to comparison-shop for something that's not yet out.

You're probably right about the wheels being the same OEM, as opposed to an unsolicited custom without the obligatory ludicrous markup. So, that means they should be shiny but not mirrory. So, I won't neccessarily be blinding the gas-guzzlers as I pass.

It's still popular. I guess it depends on your area and age group that's buying it.
