Exclamation Power trunk open and close?

The user"'s manual for my recently-purchased 2013 GS350 refers to an optional power trunk open and close accessory/option, but my salesman never heard of it, and I can't find anything about it online! Does it exist? Is it an after-market add-on?

That option is not available on US spec 2013 GS. It does exist in the other world markets for Lexus.

3rd Gen GS never had a power trunk open and close. It just had a power trunk closer which simply pulled the decklid down into its lock position.

I have the power trunk pulldown on my LS430 and find it almost impossible to only close the lid to the first latch point without completely closing it. Maybe my struts are weak and new ones would make the feature more useful.

no, even on my 3gs it wasn't easy. after driving the car daily for 3 years i was able to do it most of the time, but for most people who used my trunk, either they still just slam it, or it's not enough force, then they had to push on the lid until it clicked the first time.

in short, i think that feature was quite silly

if the trunk struts are the originals on your '05 LS, then yes, they are probably worn out.

i recently got my '06 GS300 trunk struts replaced under extended warranty, and now the trunk no longer "slams down" like it did before.

2007 GS had the auto close, you just had to get the trunk down and it would close it. I really miss this feature in my new 2013. Now I have to slam the hell out of it !!!

If you want to pay a higher price. The dollar is more expensive in Canada, and so are our cars! It's not as bad as it was before though. Previously cars cost 40-50% more in Canada.
