FYI to refresh memories or if one wasn't aware, there were tax credits for hybrids during the BUSH administration when the RX 400h/GS 450h debuted in 2006/2007 and was eligible for I believe a $2,000 or so credit that got chopped up every year until it was gone. The credit had no affect on perception or resale values.
Haha. Don't try to rationalize because Obama bashers rarely use facts or make any sense. The thing is if you are a Republican, there are plenty of legitimate things not to like about him, yet they make stuff up or blame things on him that he is not responsible for. Anyways, I am not in favor of a tax credit for luxury hybrids. If you're buying a luxury hybrid you can afford it. It's not like a GS450h is getting 45mpg. I hope it doesn't happen, because the country can't afford this type of spending.

And just the other day Newt Gingrich dissed the Chevy Volt, saying "you can't put a gun-rack in a Volt". Which is a dumb reason not to support an American car manufacturer and the environment. BTW, a guy on Youtube showed his Volt with a gun rack installed.

that's why i said the same in #6. gsh doesn't that terrific gas mileage in terms of absolute value. it's just a luxury hybrid, i don't see why it should qualify for any kind of credit

Yep, and you best believe RICH people WILL use the tax credit even if they don't need it or agree with it. lol.

I had a Republican buddy of mine who constantly complained about Obama all the time who used the 1st-time homebuyer's tax credit when he bought his house. I heard him whine about how the tax credit was socialism everyday then come to find out he used it. His response was "well, of course I'm going to use it if it is there!" Got to lol at the hypocrisy. But yeah point is we don't need to add to the deficit so that people can upgrade from a GS350 to a G450h for free.

For people living on the city like new york, where statistically only twice a week the car is actually used, it would be a moot. The Lexus rep suggested to me not to get an hybrid because the batteries need to be recharged regularly and thus not ideal for an occational driver. Is that true?
