Europe and Asia markets get 3D mapping. North American market always gets shafted.

Aside from 3D (which I am surprised Lexus does not offer), does it at least show Birds Eye View?
What I love about my Infiniti G37 Coupe is the navigation offered. Not only does it provide both Birds Eye View and 2D View (sky view), but it also provides 3D mapping when heading through large cities,i.e., Los Angeles.

interestingly enough, European Touch and Go actually does provide 3D view... so I wonder if European Enform also provides 3D view.

Here are more pics:

Japan version

Hong Kong version

I'm not sure what to think of it (I'm guessing for Japan and other Asian regions, the maps are 2D only???)

it really depends on whether the system has that modes. it's manipulation of map data. on infiniti, bmw, mb, it's the same data but you can have the modes to do 2d (north up or front up) or bird's eye view.

on my s550, the map data is the same, but released in 07 they only had 2d setup. later on they had a system telematic update, i did that and bird's eye view is now an option. so it's matter of system

Only on their top-end version (GS350 Ultimate). For the rest of the variants, only 8 inch screen.

Lol, that's nothing. Here in the Philippines, only 8 inch screen is available and it applies to all GS350 variants here.

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer..........but in a way, it's not so bad (at least we get a screen lol :P)

The 8" screen looks to be the same resolution and size as the display in my LS and my friend's RX. The poor quality image makes it look low res though- I'll be sure to take another picture next time.

Navigation, remote touch and 8" display is fitted to all GS models in Hong Kong. The top end model ('Ultimate') adds the 12.3" widescreen amongst other features.

Not sure if we get 3D mapping- will check that out when I am there next time. There is no 3D view on my LS' navigation.

However, BMW have a full blown 3D view including building icons as well as 'street view', even for Hong Kong. Following were taken from my M5's Navigation system Professional.

(the red thing on the right is a gas station, complete with fuel pumps and other details rendered- very cool)

Most icons are generic (the only thing that changes is the height and size) but for more iconic buildings like IFC etc there are actual 3D renderings of the building. I'll post pictures if there's any interest.
