We hear that Lexus would like to transform the GS into a more performance-oriented car. Along with better performance, rumors of edgier design are circulating.

I hope so......I am still traumatized by the fact that the GS460 only comes with 342 hp
Only 39 extra hp from the V6 and only 42 hp more then the GS400 from 1998
I need a 500 hp GS-F to cure my mental trauma
Detune the LFA's V10 to 500 hp, stick it in the GS-F and sell it for $90k and I would love Lexus again
Can't wait to see it, hope they offer a high mpg hybrid from the beginning.
From what I can tell on this forum is that a GS300h and a GS500h would be well recieved. What I don't understand, however, is that the GS450h already sells in such low volumes (and always has) why offer a high power model again, because how can Lexus possibly have recouped their development costs?
Perhaps they shall make it easy and create a lower power and high power hybrid setup that can then be installed across the lineup.
I just got a customer research survey from Lexus powertrain. The first question validated if I am still driving a GS460. The remaining questions ascertained my satisfaction with passing ability, acceleration, and fuel efficiency, and the relative importance of these criteria.
I answered that I was dissatisfied with passing ability and acceleration, but satisfied with fuel efficiency, and rated passing ability and acceleration as 10 on a 1-10 scale of importance, and fuel efficiency as a 5.
I don't know how to interpret that they are doing this market research at this stage of the product development cycle. But I find it a little disturbing because I think they should have done this 18 months ago given the age of the current powertrains.

depends on price to some degree, and the hybrid probably adds what, 5k to the price tag?

the gs450h to me was always a tech showcase car, although i'm sure lexus is disappointed with the very low volume. the car's power, smoothness, and quiet are amazing. but the trunk room is compromised and it's pricey and not the fuel economy isn't 'amazing'.

the only way they could have a more affordable GS hybrid would be to use a 4 banger but then it might compete in a bad way with HS250h and a likely coming ESxxxh.
