If they're built and sold in volume wouldn't the cost come down? They may not make money on it in a GS-F but it will do wonders for the GS, the F division and the Lexus brand overall.

not the engine itself. a lot of expensive components inside. plus the nature of the engine (high rev, low center of gravity, etc...) might not be good choice for a heavy car like the 4gs anyway. i am sure a lot of the tech can be transferred over, and maybe a "derivative" of the engine, but likely not that itself

I'd like to see Lexus do something different with the GSF...more than just strap a big engine into the platform and firm up the suspension.

My dream would be something 3850lbs or less through use of aluminum and CF, 8spd direct shift transmission, 500 - 550hp. Strapping two turbos onto a V8 in a 4500lb car has already been played out

Part of how the ISF drives, is the transmission and the NOISE. Those are two things you'll never get with a hybrid...and they're both pretty important, IMO.

sure you will... with paddles and simulated gears, pretty much the same... you can have it going up and down the rev range if you want.

I always think the S model from Audi is very misleading, I never see it as much of a performance model, it is just a hotter version of the base model with a sport package.

Audi got A, S and RS.

MB is E350, E550, AMG E63

BMW is 528i/535i, 550i, M5

Lexus is GS350, GS460/GS450h, GS-F

Only Porsche got more then 3 performance levels........Carrera, Carrera S, GTS, GT3, GT3 RS.

Let's see how it looks on stock suspension and 17's

Anyway, like you, not expecting a lot but hoping to be surprised. Still hoping the hybrid will be a real step forward
If history repeat itself, the base wheels on the 4GS will be 18s, 19s on higher models.....might be 20s on the F. Lexus usually increase the diameter of the wheel by one inch with every generation.

Whatever size it is, the base suspension with the base wheel never look good on any car.

If the GS-F does come out, we sort of know it be like a 5.0L V8. I just hope they figured out a way to have it turning out over 500 hp. Actually what would be interesting, is if the hybrid version would be labeled as the F. Seeing the hybrid drive would be like a Bi-Turbo or something.
2012 AMG E63 is 5.5L V8 Bi-Turbo, 550 hp with the performance pack.

If GS-F wants to be competitive, it need to have at least 550 hp. Or be 500~1000 lbs lighter.

A lot of people/magazines always compare the S4 to the M3 because the RS4 is rarely offer to the U.S.

And they always wonder why the M3 always win

Different league people!!

no sane person should ever do that. s4/5 has always been against 335, s6 has always been against the 550. m3 and m5 would crush those

it could be all marketing, "s-line" does sound better than say another a4/a5/a6. but it's way too confusing and i don't think that's necessary. that kind of diminish the value of the rs line. for lexus, i would rather have to deal with just the f-line. f-sport parts as packages to the "normal" lineup that's fine though, and i like that idea
