Default Interior door handle broken.

Wondering if anybody has had this happen to them and how much of pain or cost it is to repair.

my driver side door handle just suddenly broke like a small clip or something inside just let go as I was opening the door and now the handle is limp with no tension and does not work from the inside, the lock mechanism and opening from the outside is no issue.

not sure if it's some kind of cable or connector or spring that just gave out? I see there was a recall for 2016-2019 lexus rx addressing something like this but can't finding anything on the 4th gen gs.

Car is 2014 GS350 F Sport, RHD, not from usa.

Any help or part numbers to address the issue would be great.

Sorry to hear.

First thing you’ll have to do is remove the door panel to find out what’s broken.

@EdgarLex has a video removing the door panel:

Once you figure out what’s broken, here’s the door handle schematic:

if it’s just the handle, it could be a decent price. About $50 shipped part number 69270-30020-C0. Just be sure to pull the panel first to confirm that it’s not something else.

ive replaced door handles on one of my other cars before, its not too hard of a job.

Thank you, having a look at those schematics I would bet it's some kind of $1 clip that broke, though I can't make out clearly what connects the inside handle to the mechanism,

As I was opening the door I felt something go and the handle seemed to pull out ever so slightly more than normal and became limp like some kind of connecting piece snapped off. Anyway thank you, even if have to replace the entire thing it seems cheap enough.

No problemo, fingers crossed that it's something minor. When you find out what it is, take pictures and post them up. It's always good to be aware of potential issues.

My guess is the cable lug came out of its holding position and probably just needs to be hooked back in. There's always a slight chance the cable broke off at the lug, but I doubt that happened. Maybe the tail end of the return spring inside the handle mechanism slipped out of position. I suspect when you're able to lay eyes on it you'll see right away what has happened and you'll most likely be able to fix it yourself.
