Hey guys,
weird problem, the motor moves the trunk up and down, as usual. But when it gets to the bottom and is supposed to latch, it's unable to do so, and I have to latch it by hand by pushing down on the trunk lid.
Is the motor too weak?

Have you looked to see if something is in the way or blocking the trunk lid from the motor being able to fully pull the trunk lid down far enough to latch? That motor has enough torque to fully close and latch the trunk lid.
Look to see if maybe one of the trunk lid support arms may be hitting something in the trunk that prevents it from fully closing and latching. I presume the car has never received any damage to its rear end that has been repaired...
It sounds like you have the full power close trunk - as in the trunk can fully close itself from the open position. I do not have the full power close trunk, but my trunk will soft close/latch itself at the very bottom. What I am getting at is the full power trunk might have two separate motors - one to close the trunk from open position, and one to latch it at the bottom. Maybe the latching motor is broken but the other one works.
@zheka130 - The Power Trunk System has two motors - one for the motorized lid itself, the second being for the motorized latching operation - one motor is for raising/lowering the entire lid and the other motor is for latching the lid. Two separate motors are required for the full-fledged Power Trunk System because the entire process is a two-step operation.
So, the problem of the lid not latching may be with the latch motor itself or it could be just the latch cable has broken or it's crimped end ferrule has pulled out of its retaining socket.
To determine what the root cause of the problem is, you'll want to find out if the latch motor makes a motor operating sound but just doesn't latch. That would indicate that the latch cable is no longer properly attached. Contrarily, if you do not hear a motor operating sound when the lid is supposed to be latching, that is an indicator the latch motor is no longer operating for some reason. What I do not know at the spur-of-the-moment is what triggers the latch motor to begin its operation.
The latch motor is actually referred to as a 'Lock Actuator' but there are two of them shown in the image below, both with the same part number - it is used with a full-fledged 'Power Trunk Closing System': P/N 64650-30070.
My guess is, the problem is most likely (hopefully) with one of the inexpensive and easily replaced $40 'Lock Cable'; such as P/N: 64607-30220 (See image shown below)
The image below might be helpful to get a vague idea of the cabling used even though this image doesn't specifically show the above part numbers.
Hope it all helps you solve the latching problem...

Thanks a lot bclexus!
Currently, the problem resolved itself, and everything started working again.
I'll study up on what you've posted, as i suspect it may come back at some point in time.

Strange that it resolved itself! Typically, something like that doesn't just self-correct.
Yes, it may indeed happen again. Good luck with it not happening again...
