When I open the trunk and hit the button for it to close, it will start shutting, and when it gets down to the latch, it just opens back up


has anyone experienced anything like this?

I guessed you've checked to see if anything in or around the latch is blocking it from closing and reversing? Also, check the arms of the trunk lid for any kind of blockage or something that could cause a resistance to fully close.

 

Fuse maybe?!

 

It wouldn't be a fuse if the motor works to partially close it and then to reverse it.

 

Check and make sure none of the weatherstripping has come off of the pinch joint or trim in the trunk area. Maybe you moved a bit of it inadvertently when you removed something from the trunk or put it inside.
