Lexus reset the dual climate control system and everything was working again, so I denied the repair. Shortly after, I ran into the same problem. The $1,900 cost just seems absurd to me so I wanted to get an idea of what you guys were paying for this replacement. My car is already out of the extended warranty, so this will be out of pocket.
I don't recall if you said in an earlier post, however did you mention to your dealership about the customer support program that @bclexus posted about earlier? Secondary Coverage is applicable for 7 years or 125,000 miles from the date of first use, whichever occurs first.

Since you have a 2016, you may still have coverage under Customer Support Program 20LE01 depending on when your car was first registered. If your coverage under this support program just expired, see if the dealership will honor a goodwill fix. If not, call Lexus corporate and let them know your car is showing a costly repair for something that just recently expired from their support program.

You never know - maybe they'll give you a free fix, discount or work with you since you have a GS that is impacted. Separate issue, but my AC Condenser went bad over the summer and my dealership quoted over $2000 to fix it with parts/labor. I complained and the service manager was able to knock off 10%. It wasn't much, but it helped make it easier to swallow the overall cost. Never hurts to ask for a better price!

I have always wondered how many run Dual temp alot? I don't run Dual temp's 99% or more of the time. I had a Lincoln LS that had this same blend door and DCCV valve problems for lots of the owners.

I kinda think that the constant change in managing 2 separate temp could also lead to excessive use of the motors fighting each other. If one side was set to say 68, and the other is 75, they are going to be working overtime to correct for the different temps. Also I wish all the car companies would get smart enough to design a easy access door or port under the dash to replace bend door actuator assemblies.

We always use the dual settings, but they are not off greatly from each other. My wife usually keeps hers at 70-72 and I am usually at 68.

On my 18 with 51.5K miles, unfortunately too often. So much so, I am considering replacing the GS later this year.

5 times since Sep 2019. The most recent was last week. On my way to the office, 30 min drive, I noticed that the center passenger side was blowing warmer, did not have my thermometers with me so could not measure the difference. If I had to guess, I would say it was the same as the times before, about a 20 degree difference. At 4 pm, on my way home, it seems the system corrected itself and the temps were the same. But that still has me feeling uncomfortable and anxious about long term ownership of my GS.

I'm eyeing that new GX, but it's a little pricy... maybe a Sequioa...hmmm...

I wonder whether it is more common on the later models? I've got a 2013, so far so good.

,,, and 2018 is not included in the Customer Support Program that @bclexus shared. Definitely not a good feeling. Good luck with your 2013.

Are any of these that are going bad, have had the Software Re-Calibrations update, before they failed?

I told my service advisor that I left BMW and bought a Lexus because of reliability and a failure this early was surprising and the high repair cost was unacceptable. I told him that I would not pay that unreasonably high price and will never purchase another Lexus. At that time, the owner of the Lexus dealership and a high ranking Toyota official was visiting the dealership. So, my advisor stated that he ask them to approve the repair as good will. To do so, they had to confirm the failed part. They disassembled my dash, confirmed the part failure, prepared the case paperwork and got approval in about an hour and half. During the repair they scratched the material on the door which eventually separated and left permanent scuff marks on my steering wheel. I did not complain since the repair was free of charge.
This happened again but with my GS350. Cost was $2300. They replaced three servo motors. I asked if it would be better to replace all motors but they stated that the ones that were replaced are the ones that fails most often. This time there was no damage to my interior or steering wheel. Very disappointed in Lexus. However, like the IS350 this is my first unscheduled repair. Pretty good compared to my previous BMW.

@Savjam What year is your GS?

I just had the passenger side front center vent malfunction again today. SMH Feels like it's almost closed but allowing just a small amount warmer air to blow through. Made an appointment for Wednesday morning. Warranty on my 18 is long gone, let's see what Lexus says since this is the fourth occurence of this problem. Crossing my fingers for a goodwill repair but I'm not holding my breath.

I understand the entire 2024 GX550 allocation has essentially been sold via preorders so that's off my shopping list unless I get lucky. Moving to my next target... 2024 Sequioa.

There is a extended service campaign for most lexus vehicles experiencing servo mortor ac concerns. It covers vehicles for 7years from date of first years or 150k miles, which ever comes first. I would call the dealership first to set an appointment if your vehicle falls under the category.
https://youtu.be/iOXfpFplOgM?si=16QJqacQnQs7Ea6T this is a video i uploaded a while back for an IS300 but it also applies for the GS350

i asked lexus about this but was informed that my 2018 GS was not included in this capaign. My service advisor specifically mentioned the Lexus IS as one of the targets. This is strange because it is the same design/parts used in the GS which Lexus decided to exclude.
