Cherry 2017 available - should I?
Hi guys as some of you may remember I lost my 2013 GS recently, and have since replaced it with a 2015 Camry. The Camry is a solid car (the V6 is a laugh a minute) but I miss the damn GS a lot, and I'm still on the lookout for another if I come across the right one. Yesterday a great looking one popped up near me, see the link below to check out the ad on craigslist,
It's a 2017 RWD F Sport with 16,000 miles, and it is more or less pristine. The paint is flawless with no dings I could find, and there is no curb rash on the wheels. It was a garaged car, and is unmodified. The car drives noticeably different from my 2013. The overall feeling is much more sedate and settled than my car was, but also less "exciting". I was somewhat disappointed with the acceleration in eco and regular driving, but the response in the sport modes was much better, and changing modes made a bigger difference in responsiveness than it did in my 2013. The suspension felt more compliant in all modes - especially in sport plus - than my 2013 did. Overall I'd say I like the ride/handling better in the 2017 but the pedal response was better on my departed 2013.
If you look at the original spec sheet the seller attached on the ad, you can see the car is completely loaded, including a couple rare things that I'm not sure are a positive, namely a limited slip differential and rear wheel steering. Any reason to believe these may lead to complications/expense down the road? I don't do any high performance driving, so I think LSD and rear steer would be a bit lost on me, although I will say I did a U-turn and the steering radius was impressively tight which is cool.
Concerning the price, I realize $40K is a non-starter, but he hinted right off the bat that he's not expecting to get that much. Blue book comes back as $32K-$34K, I'm considering buying it if I can get him down to this price range.
What says the peanut gallery? Must say I still come on here a lot as a lurker and enjoy the back and forth from some of the regulars.

I would buy that car in a heartbeat. I know things work a little differently in Hawaii with their options and availability, but I don't recall ever seeing a RWD GS that is as loaded as this one. The combo of RWD with triple LEDs is quite rare, not to mention the HUD, painted calipers, rear wheel steering, etc.
I have the twin to that but, not as loaded in Caviar with 14k miles. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat too, beautiful GS! You should get it, it's definitely a rare car with those options.

That's a rare one for sure and in mint condition too. How can you possibly pass up such a car?

Yup. The price is my main concern along with the black paint. It's so good I'll be scared to park it anywhere. Kind of liberating to have my dinged up Camry I have no fear of parking lots.

Also suggestion, if you get that 2017 GS350 try to buy a Extended service contract. I know you will keep it for a while. You already know what can go wrong, even being a 2017 Lexus GS350 with low miles.
PS: I park way far away from everyone in parking lots, always.
My next additional new/used car after I finish my GS mods and start driving it daily will be a 2019 -2023 Genesis G70 V6 twin turbo - 4.5sec 0 - 60 Stock. All the latest Tech and Infotainment. Now don't go drive one that sells for less than $40k.

You gave up on getting a glorious camry?
I don't know, 30-40k buys you A LOT of newer cars made in the past 8 years that I think are better than the GS. I bought my 450h because of its rarity, mpg, power and loaded features and the fact that I got a great deal on it. However, if my purchase were to cross the 30k+ mark, I'd have been looking at something else. I would stay away from the Kia and Hyundai cars, still having issues on the reliability front with them. I guess though being on an island you are limited in choices, but that's a lot of coin.
