Default Speaker replacement '13 GS

Hi Guys,

One of my front speakers is blown. Looking to replace it and found the OEM ones to be overpriced. Can anyone suggest a replacement. I saw one thread on here for a 2016 GS that used Infinity speakers. I have the base audio system and I only looking to replace the fronts with something as good as OEM which for me was mpore than good enough before my kid blew one of the speakers. Fyi I am in Canada. Wondering if these would be compatible for $120 a pair on Amazon.ca

Infinity Reference 6532EX - EZFit 6-1/2” Shallow Mount Coaxial car Audio Speaker

You can replace with any speaker that will fit but preferably one with the same ohm rating.

Is the front Prem system not a 6x9?

Yes. There is an adapter you have to buy to fit it.

You could always buy a 2015 Prius front speaker.

Left is Lexus GS ML, Right is Prius Speaker.

Thanks for all the replies. Can anyone tell me what my car has? are the speakers 6.5" or 6x9? 4 ohm? I don't have the ML system. I still find the sound quite good. I would rather not pull the doors apart twice

A larger ferrite magnet is not superior to the smaller neodymium magnet. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

The non-ml system is 4-ohms, the subwoofer is 2.5 ohms.

I wouldn’t change the speakers first, add a DSP amplifier. That will make the single biggest difference.

I don't think it would make any difference with a blown speaker that the OP is having. lol.

Actually, both of these speakers are from Prius. The left one was the OEM Prius speaker (From 2015 Prius II, to be exact) that I replaced with the Pioneer A-Series 6"x9". But regardless, yes, you can use the Prius speakers, but they will sound like they were made out of Kellogg's carton, because they were.

The other option would be, replace all of your door speakers with Infinity Reference series. Thats what I did a couple of years ago. Went with Infinity Reference all around and they sound quite a lot better than the Lexus Premium speakers.

I replaced mine with 6.5" all around in the doors about 3 years ago and couldnt be happier. My total cost was under 200 bucks for the 4 speakers. I bought them from Crutchfield, so they included the brackets and the wiring as well, at no cost.

Did you find that there is a bit less bass from the new speakers?

Umm, I compared the OEM speakers and the Infinity speakers and I felt like Infinity has better bass than the OEM. I tested them both with the OEM Sub unplugged.

I thought the whole audio system ran through the sub on the ML? If you unplugged it, how did you get any sound from the speakers? Not questioning your method, just curious. Thanks.

I cant say for sure about the ML system, it is possible that the ML system may have something like that going, but my GS has the basic "Premium" option.

Honestly, if I had the ML system in my GS, I would not have messed around with it by replacing the speakers with aftermarket.
