My GS won't start?
It could just be bad luck and a prematurely failing component that was built on a Monday.
Many states have laws that allow you to request the old parts for inspection, or to even keep them, after the repair has been done. Maybe you're able to exercise that when they're done shotgunning.

You've got a lot going on with various mods that could have caused a 'conflict' for a control unit/module, but in all likelihood I think that would probably have thrown a code or been seen on Tecstream.
Try this:
Press the ignition switch so the instrument lights on the dash come on, then press the ignition switch again so the instrument lights go out. Now, open the driver's door and get out, then close the door. From outside of the car, open the driver's door again and close it three times. Then, open the driver's door, get in and start the engine.

I will when I get it back. It's still in the shop now. There are some links of some pieces in the IS section. I'll see if I can find the link.

That's what it's all about.

How easy is the starter to get to? Would it be possible to wire a 12V light to the starter terminals, to see if it is getting energized when you attempt to start (long enough so you can see it).
If no, then work up to the starter relay, to see if it's getting activated.

Next time..... if it won't start I'm going to play the musical chair song, stop the music and sit down fast, while trying what b/c suggested. The only 100% way to have it start each and every time with no problem is to get it into the service dept. shop bay. Hook up diagnostic equipment to detect what's wrong. Then it starts every time without fail, no matter how many times you try, with no detected problems reporting.
*** UPDATE*** Went to pick it up today. The Pass mirror gear part did not come in yet. Won't get it back till tomorrow. I started it like 10 times fine. The temp gauge was on normal, so I know they have been starting and driving it also. The pass side mirror would not work left to right so I had them call a claim to the service contract to fix it when it went in a few days ago.
New Starter is in installed. My hope is I won't have to do this,... but we will see. Good call! Thanks!
This would be if it still has a problem. I have a Ext Warranty so they will be doing it. I could, but do not want to. This is their problem $$$$.

In any case, contacts can burn up for any number of reasons. I had an ant get caught in a 1yr old contactor for my heat pump not long ago. Obviously fried it, and the compressor would not run when starting.
It not has a contactor with enclosed contacts. Any little critter could've gotten in there, or a brush went kaput.
Good to hear it wasn't too complicated.
In 10 years for the 80K starter would equate to 22 starts per day to reach.
Just saying that's a lot of starts unless @jgscott has been delivering Pizza's localy as a gig.
Your premature failure theory makes more sense.

Car stays in the Garage. I always have a 2nd car I drive more than the GS. I only drive it like 2-3 times a week if that. I do not have remote start. I don't normally even let it warn up or cool down. I heard it's best to start and go lightly driving to warm up itself. Not idle.
I appreciate all the - could it be thought's I've been through them in my mind myself. I guess we are just so use to a Lexus being so darn reliable that 1 problem is shocking. Like "how could this fail!". lol! I got the car in 2016 with only 20k on it. Other than the AVS Struts, I've had Zero problems with it, nor any other of the 6 Lexus I have owned. I added that Ext Service Contract through my credit union only in 2020. Mostly due to the engine noise vacuum pump problems, the Servo a/c vents problems, and the ML Navi system. Also suspension ages like Control arms, and wheel bearings. I plan to keep it as my Garage car at least 2-3 more years. Before then I'm thinking about going to get a Genesis 3.3L Twin Turbo V6 maybe? Then the GS350 will become my daily driver. I also have had Porsche fever again, but German cars are just problems after problems after problems some more. Even still I love Porsches. Saying that I would not be surprised if I went out found and bought the lowest miles Blk/Blk GS F in the country instead.
I should be ashamed to post that my starter went out here on the Lexus forum.
Again I hope that's what it was, or this is going to be a long update thread I will be regretting. I plan to go by there tomorrow before the mirror actuator comes in and is installed and test starting it again some.

I cut the car off at every stop light and stop sign, and in traffic to save gas and restart. Trying to get GS 450h gas mileage. Does the Starter have a filter & fluid? If so I will start changing it every 3k. <-------- (It's all a joke)
