Looks like a pretty good way to destroy your paint finish.

It will definitely ruin the paint. 6 weeks and there should be a trailer hitch available. Here's the rack I just bought.

Just received an email from Curt Mfg. they completed testing & manufacturing for their hitch for our 4th gen GS's. Pricing should be determined soon. Estimated availability in 1-2 weeks, but we'll see.

They said to check their website. Probably not the cheapest way to buy it, but get the part number from curtmfg.com, then request that part number from a reseller. It'll be mice to have it before summer is over!

I've been checking the site regularly. I agree about having one by the end of summer, just in time for prime riding season. I live in SF, too hot in the summer

Curt released the hitch for the GS!

You have to remove the rear bumper and install the hitch behind the metal bumper bar...

Looks like it won't work on an F-Sport model. The Hitch Lookup makes you select "excluding F Sport".

However, if you don't have an F Sport, this looks like a great option to use for your bike mount. :-)

I called etrailer to let them know. I'm waiting to see if they will have a lower price. Have to remove the bumper? Bummer. Sounds like it might be a pain to install.

It said install could be up to three hours...

Let us know what etrailer says. I'd like one but not at that price, plus my lease is up in June.

3 hours if you know where everything is. I'll plan on 6 hours. The one thing I don't like, is that the instructions say you should use a stabilizing strap (http://www.curtmfg.com/Search?term=18050+STABILIZING), which hooks onto the fwd edge of the trunk. I don't like that. It's going to scratch. Maybe put a piece of leather between the trunk and the clip? It does make sense to have the strap, but I'm concerned about it scratching.

I did notice that too. My rack doesnt hang my bikes, they stand and lock down the tires. I wouldnt be able to use a strap...

Mine is like yours. Maybe it won't be an issue with the lower center of gravity. I assumed the strap was to keep the rack from twisting CW or CCW where it connects to the hitch. Maybe that's not what it's for.
