Hello all, no stranger to Lexus, have had probably half a dozen maybe more. Currently have an 04 IS300 Sport Design 5MT, 98 GS300 GTE Aristo Swapped single turbo, and 07 RX400h. Looking at picking up this 08 GS460 as a daily driver while I swap the Aristo motor into my IS300 with a Marlin Crawler R154 5 speed.
133k miles, FL car since new, everything works, owner is resealing motor and putting new motor mounts in to prep for sale. Needs old clear bra removed from front bumper, may need a full set of struts (I planned on lowering it anyways) and I think 1 headlight bulb. What do you guys think is a fair price? Will need a little TLC on the interior but doesn’t bother me too much as my dad does upholstery and leather work.
That the one from Tampa? Seems decent and given the rarity of these, might be a good opportunity.
Yes, it's in Tampa. I'm up in Ocala. That's also where I got my RX from and my IS300 SD 5MT lol. What do you think a steal of a price would be? I don't have to have it in any way whatsoever, just an interesting option.
Engine has a few minor oil leaks that he was going to take care of while he does the motor mounts. He's at 9k, I'll try and get in it for 8500. Goal is to bring it up to near perfect condition inside and out, new struts with lowering springs, wheels, and maybe a little sound system. Drive it for a while and then resell eventually and try to lose little or break even.

find out if he’s doing valve cover gaskets, I’m asking because if so there is no excuse to not do the high pressure fuel pump gaskets (they are attached to the valve covers) and it would be insanely dumb to not do spark plugs and tube seals since they have to come out.
valve cover gasket job is $2,000 at the dealer and it’s roughly 10 hours for the DIY’er.
I would ask extremely specific details on what is being performed. If you find out he’s not doing all the above and you want the car, I would absolutely buy the parts and pay the difference to make sure it’s completed. Only use iridium plugs btw.
I said reseal but I actually just meant to say that he was addressing the oil leak(s) since the car was on the market for a few weeks and hasn't gotten any serious hits. I will find out more info, just sent him a text
