2010 engine replacement
hey what's up Lexus owner i need HELP!! so i have a 2010 Lexus GS 350 which is the first Lexus I've ever owned and i feel in love with this machine but unfortunately i drove this car into the ground driving for uber and i ended up having to replace the engine and i decided to do the swap my self now I've done motor oil, tran fluid, sparkplugs, and alternator, replacement my self but nothing as deep as replacing my engine now i can just pay someone to do it but that would defeat the purpose of why i chose to do it my self in the first place which is that i wanted to learn everything about this car so i wouldn't feel that helpless felling when something broke down so anyway after several days of you tube and going trough forums and reading the service manual i was successful in removing and installing and the engine sounded beautiful but accouple days but the next i decided to paint my calipers and flush my transmission and coolant and since part of replacing trans fluid you have to shift trough all the gears and when i went to do that i got this gear grinding trans loud noise when i tried putting it into gear and and so im stumped so HERES MY QUESTION
#1:could this be a result of me not properly bleeding my brakes cuz i could imagine that if you where to try and put trans into gear without pressing the brake peddle and pushing the lock on the gear shifter it would be alot similar to someone that's driving a manual transmission for the first time and they don't press the cluch while shifting and that's what i would describe the sound i heard coming from my trans??????
#2
r could this be a result of a torque converter not in all the way and hocking on the oil pump splines??
any help or advice would be really helpful thanks in advance....

Even if you drain all the transmission fluid out, and drove it you shouldnt get a hard grinding noise right away. My suggestion is to raise the car, crawl under it, and have someone in the car start it and put it into gear to make the grinding sound. Visually and if you wanted to record with your phone as its making the grinding sounds. This should help you determine from where the noise is coming from and come up with a game plan. Its possible maybe you didnt tighten the torque convertor bolts properly
oh hey thanks for the suggestion i was starting to think no one would reply lol but yeah actually yesterday after making the post i started taking the engine and triny out the car (AGAIN)i just wanted to make sure i didn't screw anything up since i kind of rushed the first installation and this time i followed the service manual to the tee and thinking back i didn't screw in the black setting bolt first and i also realized as i was unbolting it yesterday that i missed 1 crew so you saying i didn't put the converter validates what i found yesterday wich is giving me a lil bit of hope i actually was up all night putting everything back together im just finishing up now about to fire it up just double checking all connections and if it still there ill do what you said which is actually way better than what i had in mind which was to just drop to the floor in the fetal position and cry like a little girl LOL ill post an update as soon as i fire it up thanks man
just want to update who ever else might be interested she's back and shifting like butter and i believe ibidu1 was on the money about the converter not being installed right which honestly i kind of doubted initially only because i turned it on before the noise and tried shifting once and didn't do it but it did the second time but the more i thought about what you said the more it made sense it could have been barley hocking on to splines and so yea so thanks to ibidu1 im glad to report that we have "GRATE SUCCESS" LOL
