Default Steering Wheel spot light - very dim

I've searched and can't find anyone talking about the Steering Wheel Spot Light. (The tiny one, above the sun visor, that lights up the steering wheel.) I just noticed the other day (night) that it wasn't on. As I looked I found it WAS on, but very, very dim. If I put my hand close to it, I can see the light.

I thought LED's were either on or off. Is it possible the bulb is bad, or would it be an electrical issue somewhere else?

They are dimmable LED. They dim as you put the car into drive.

OK, so I pulled the steering wheel spot light out, slapped it a couple times, and it got bright again.
It just pulls down, but you need to pull from the windshield (front) side first. Trust me . . . .

I don't think the steering wheel spot light is dimmable. Ether way this "fix" didn't fix it, every now an then I still have to pull it, wiggle/slap it for it to be bright again.

I can't seem to find the replacement part anywhere. Any suggestions?
