Default So fed up with this HID, LED, DRL crap

Most of the tutorials have been taken down...basically trying to removing the flickering from my drl, and my low beams suck ***...I'm using the same LED bulbs from my Solara that worked amazing...I can't figure out anything!

I've tried aligning the low beams to no avail, I can't figure it out...

I've tried numerous harnesses to keep my DRL from flickering to no avail, they work but because the drl and high beam share the same bulb Im left with non flicker but no high beam I've replaced the ballasts only to find out I can just bypass them with the nice new leds I just bought...

My whole lighting system is LED at this point but I can't drive the car at night.
.
So frustrated because I'm perfectly capable of doing this myself, I just can't get the right info

I'm about ready to go to just spending $1000 at the Lexus dealer...please help...

did you have halogens from the factory? I’m asking because you said your lows suck. My gs460 has incredible factory hid lighting.

Yes, they were nowhere near as good as the LEDs I installed on my Solara so I changed them out...also tried changing ballasts and aligning them...they are slightly better than it was when I got the car but still scary to drive at night..even my friends who have driven the car agree...

Hard to help when you are not telling us what LEDs you are using.

The factory housing for the HID bulb is not one of the best. I swapped out a higher Kelvin blub back to factory Kelvin to get a decent output.
The strobing\flickering LED DRL is probably because the LED bulb is outside the voltage range. I believe the factory voltage is lower than 6V for DRL. Most LED blubs operate between 11v-30V.

I'm just going to try u plugging the 194 city bulbs and deal with it the best I can...I figured someone might have gone through the same issues and could offer up some info since I put Sylvania bluestar 194s in for the city lights... As far as the d4s I'm gonna go ahead and write them up via 12v and skip the ballasts..

I guess I really need help aligning everything and then get brighter fog lights and hope for the best, I just really miss the lighting ability of my Solara just by switching to led... With this car it's just a big disappointment

There is a ton of lighting info out there, but it does require some searching. The short answers for me are:

Lows: Mostly, going outside of factory specs will lower your usable lighting output. Use OE Philips XenEco D4S HID bulbs for the best usable output. Anything else will maybe change the appearance but will reduce usable output. Unless you change out the HID projector for an LED, but that's probably north of $500 and for that you should do your research.
"City" lights: Pretty much any 194 bulb or 168 bulb should work. These are on and illuminate the high beam housing when the low beams are on, but are NOT the DRLs.
High beams: A good quality halogen 9005 bulb, replaced every 5-7 years for optimal output. Using LEDs here is a pain in the rear unless you turn off DRLs (easy using Techstream), and honestly, the reflectors aren't that good for LEDs.
Turns: 7440 Amber. If you want to swap out to LEDs they need to have incandescent-equivalent resistor packs or you need to upgrade your flasher module.

If you have compromised the lighting capability of your car to the point where it is "scary" to drive at night, for the sake of appearance, you shouldn't be driving at night.

Regarding techstream, can I buy the lite version and turn off my DRL?

I don't have access to Techstream Lite, but it looks like that would work ... seems a little pricy though to turn off the DRL functionality, a Toyota or Lexus dealer should be able to do it for their minimum work increment (30 minutes?). You can probably make it work using a MiniVCI cable with the correct features (K-line?) and a suitable version of Techstream. I know it can be done using a
VXDiag VCX Nano VXDiag VCX Nano
cable and their instructions.
