Transmission oil filter/strainer cost in your area?
I just priced up the strainer for the transmission of my 2009 GS450H with my local Lexus dealership.
Filter/strainer p/n 35330-30100: £141 (~182 US Dollars)
Transmission pan gasket p/n 35168-30020: £60 (~77 US Dollars)
That doesn't seem right to me, so I was wondering how much it is in other parts of the world. The same dealership sold me a complete service kit at a very good price including spark plugs, all filters, 7L oil, and 7L coolant, I also got the transmission oil and rear diff oil at a reasonable price from there, so I'm wondering why the transmission parts are so expensive.
I can find aftermarket strainers for around £30 (~39 US Dollars), but they are brown box and unbranded so I'm not so keen.
Is this a normal price for your part of the world?

I worked for a global industrial filtration company for five years.
Lexus does not manufacture or develop their own filtration media.
it’s called applications engineering. Engineers provide their requirements and filtration companies sell them a product. I specifically worked in procurement as my company was an OEM. The “genuine Lexus” brand is just their packaging, on top of another company’s product, that’s it.
just buy a decent brand aftermarket filter and you’ll be just fine. I paid $28 for my transmission filter and gasket for my GS460. Worked absolutely perfect.
cheers
