2008 GS460 TCU(TCM) SWAPPED(2008 IS-F's)
I bet you can get higher numbers if you use the 96 or above octane in our country with your set up.
Yes, with the S7 tune, I'll occasionally run an E30 blend, about 3 gallons of e85 to 10 gallons of 91, every other tank. After the dyno I also swapped to much lighter wheels, about -22lbs in the rear and about -45lbs total, so the rotational and unsprung weight loss and stronger fuel might add 5-10whp. I hope to hit the dyno again soon.
I own an 08 GS460 with 88k miles on it. Still very excited to swap the TCU but I didn't realize it came with some issues. Everyone I've seen talking about it just mentioned that it was plug and play and never mentioned anything past that. Would sector 7 be able to help with the shifting issues present in 1st to 2nd gear? I know speaking with them before they mentioned they could adjust the transmission as well
Bumping a very old thread
I have been looking into GS460s and the TCU swap. I have a question, about the 2010-2011 GS460, if anyone is aware:
Would you have any idea if a 2010-2012 ISF TCU (part number 89535-53070) would still work for a 2010 GS460? I noticed the TCU part number changed, and it used to be 89535-53010 for the 2008-2009. I think the TCU part number for the GS also changed in those years.
It would be a bummer to get a 2010 and be unable to do this swap, so I'm very curious if anyone is aware!!
Also, regarding the performance issues described with the TCU above, I have some info I found online regarding the registration via techstream to the transmission ID, and calibration of the TCU. I haven't seen anyone mention doing any of this in my reading of this swap and was wondering if maybe this was the cause of the issues. I keep hearing it referred to as 'plug and play' but this article doesn't make it sound like that.

There is a section for TCU Registration, 'Set / transfer transmission compensation code', and TCU learning tips.
Thanks in advance!

Excellent!! Glad to hear as those calibration instructions would be a pain to go through.
Does this only apply to 460’s? This is very interesting. My 07 350 is supercharged im at about 380whp.. looking for further upgrades to enhance the performance and will retune. Unfortunately i went the mapecu3 route but this was before any info on the ecu being cracked. Thanks in asvance.
