Default 2007 - GS450H - P0017 Error

Hello guys,

Hope that you can help me as i am new here with my first ever Lexus.

I brought my 2007 Lexus with 123k miles on the clock.

Water pump and hybrid battery changed last year.

I did a majour service straight away on it.. the car is smooth and really nice to drive however,
  1. The avarage city drive is around 23mpg, is that normal?
  2. I have a code P0017 on it, funny thing is, there is no EML light or even any physical issue with power.
I Changed the camshaft sensor and the error remained, now i have read that it could be a streached chain, however, there are no errors on dash, so unless i connect the computer, i wouldnt know,

Do you guys think its urgent i change the chain? Or could it be ignored as there is no EML on the dash nor any noticible performance issues?

Any Help is appreciated

I would take it to a good mechanic who can diagnose it properly. More likely a good scan tool can show cam and crank position

I doubt you have a stretched timing chain, if I were to guess, its possible a bad vvti cam gear. There was a recall on those!

Thank you so much, that is the story of my life... Finding a good mechanic.. haha
Well i just looked at the recall and couldnt see any vvti cam gear recalls.. there is only fuel pressure sensor and valve spring which i think they were both done as there are no outstanding recalls on it.

I am just worried that i would be stranded one day..

PS i am in the UK
