I'm looking into buying a 08-11 gs350, preferably awd. Are there any major reliability concerns I should have about getting a gs350 awd with 100k miles plus? I know that overall the awd system is more complex and has more parts that will wear out over time.

You are in fact targeting the time period where there are the most reliable. On a side note you get a newer front end and infotainment system (which doesn't look that bad even by modern standards compared to before where it looks like Windows 95). The AWD system is very robust. You have 2 differentials and a transfer case, like on a truck. Engine wise, the 3.5 is a very durable engine, and eliminates the carbon buildup issue present on the previous engines, before dual injection.

Obviously, if you can find one with transmission and differentials serviced (which is rarer because all manufacturers make people believe they embed a lifetime fluid) and a service history, this is better. There were also some cases on the forum where the engine burned oil, but I think this is pretty rare. Still worth asking the seller and getting it inspected.

I'm specifically looking for the 08-11 models for the face-lift and newer infotainment/aux port. i found the post where they compare the 07 model to an 08 in the FAQ page and i think the face-lift makes it look much better.


its great to hear that the awd system is built like a truck. My family has a 13 Lx570 with 110k miles and it still runs like new.

The most typical repairs are wear items. things that come to mind are water pump, wheel bearings, and struts.

Ive been unfortunate to have to replace all 4 door actuators, but easy and cheap to repair.

these cars are good in the sense that they don’t really have any “ticking time bomb” elements about them, like a lot of others cars do once they get to a certain mileage.

My 08 AWD is close to 200k miles, and drives like new. Buy it change the water pump, put fresh spark plugs in it, filter, belts etc. These cars very reliable.

Btw im on stock wheel bearing, alternator, starter.

AWD do have an issue with slight vibration at stop lights, that vibration increases if you plan to lower your car.

thanks, that definitely gives me some confidence to shop for ones with higher mileage. I'm planninplon buying one for my first car and I plan on keeping it bone stock except for maybe changing out the daytime running lights 👍
