Default Stripped Water Pump Bolt

Replacing the water pump and this bolts threads are stripped. Whoever did the job before I bought the car torqued the **** out of all the bolts on here. Do you think a longer bolt might bite? Any ideas? I put it all back together as I needed the car and it is leaking ever so slightly, as in a few drips if left sitting overnight.

What you can do is remove the water pump, slightly drill the hole out and insert a steel helicoil. Not difficult but it is the strongest way to repair the right way. Kits can be had at most auto parts stores. Super easy!

It was one of the smaller 10mm bolts, any idea what size helicoil kit I would need?

Its best to remove one of the same matching bolts that is good, and take it with you to the auto parts store. You will also need to buy a replacement bolt, so you might have better luck finding both at a fastener shop or even a hardware store maybe ace. Remember to buy a single drill bit that matches whatever the helicoil specifies so you get the right tolerance.

Thank you for the help. I bought an M6 helicoil kit, new screw, and a 90 degree angle drill and was able to get it in their pretty easily. I first went in all the holes with a drillbit and oil to clear out all the gunk in the threads, like I said the dude before put some nasty cement stuff on the threads and way over torqued them. Everything has been bolted up and so far it's only been 30 miles but no leaks as far as I can tell!
