Default Finnicky Cruise Control

I am driving a 2006 GS 430 with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Lately, the cruise has been very finncky. Sometimes it turns on, and sometimes it does not. If it does turn on though, it works perfectly (slows down and detects cars ahead, steady speed).

I should note that these issues started after I attempted (and failed) to remove the front bumper. Could I have loosened a ground wire or something? I didn't touch the millimeter radar, and I don't think there's anything critical to the cruise control in the front bumper area.

Checked for engine codes and nothing pops up aside from TPMS. Anyone else had this issue?

Check the front emblem. It houses the radar cruise control.

I checked it already. The radar is actually not in the emblem. The emblem is just a semi transparent plastic cover that is like 3 inches removed from the actual millimeter radar, completely separate and in its own bracket (which I didn't touch or adjust).

Did you replace the fuse of the cruise control. Mine was corroded.

No I did not. Where is the fuse located? Interior? Exterior?

It could be something as simple as a flakey, intermittent switch on the steering wheel.

So I've narrowed it down to a few possibilities:

1. Fuse
2. Cruise Control Stalk
3. Deteriorated Battery (due for a change)

How would I be able to diagnose and single out the issue?

Found the culprit: clock spring in the steering wheel.

Hope this helps someone in the future

What did the clock spring have to do with the cruise control? Those are two completely independent systems.

The DRCC controls are on the steering wheel.

I understand that, but the clock spring is part of the SRS airbag system. It has nothing to do with the cruise control circuits so how did it cause your problem?

Clock spring isn’t just for the air bag. I had a Dodge Ram with a broken clock spring, and in addition to the air bag, I also lost horn and cruise control.

Yep. Clock sprig connects all steering wheel buttons to the rest of the car. Usually the first to go is the horn and airbag, In my case, it is the cruise control.
