Hey guys NooB here,
Looking around new ole cheapish Lexus (considering GS, IS, ES).
Came across a GS350 with 190K for $5000 and GS450h with 180K for $6300 battery was supposedly replaced recently.
Should run from either both? tips, suggestions... Thanks!

Hey welcome! I would go for the GS350 with the 190k, but replace the water pump with an aisan off rockauto.com
The GS450H 1. Has issues with brake boosters that if it does go out thats 3k to repair. 2. CVT transmission, although it maybe good if it does go out im pretty sure it would cost a lot to replace as the 450H is a rare car.
The 350 there are plenty on the roads, and if its well maintained it will last long. If you needed used parts they are plentiful and cheap. But couldnt you find a lower mileage? Right now the market is high because of tax return season, maybe holding off until you find an amazing deal with low miles. After september prices begin to drop.

Thanks so much! I will keep looking esp for something with less miles. and prob avoid the GS450h... I just have not seen too many reasonable options just yet... Im in NY metro area.
Expand your search area, dont be afraid to buy a car from another state. All it takes is a plane trip and one long day trip.www.searchtempest.com
I wasnt hating on the 450, it is a very great sold car aswell, but to compare 350 to 450, being that the 450's are rare so its hard to see how proven they are. But a failed abs will cost you big to replace on it.

Dnt be afraid of hybrid, I am also looking for one and have same thoughts like you. CVT is kind of life time reliable, remember to change oil into every each 100k miles. The worst think about hybrid is battery (p&p from newer prius mk2) and rear suspension shocks becouse of hella ton of batteries in the back. On the other hand those additioal weight help a lot on bad weather conditions, snow etc. Any competition to hybrid in my opinion is 460. I hope you show your ride there after purchase!

As a hybrid owner...if I were looking at the 350 or the 450h...it would be the 450h no questions. For similar mileage and price the 450h is well worth it. There are cheaper alternatives to fix the hybrid batter IF it goes bad. ONLY reason to choose the 350 over the 450h is if you NEED trunk space. This was a biased post by a 450h owner.

I was hunting for a hybrid for a long time. After having a RH450H, I am a big fan of hybrids. The power from the GS, I would love that. I ended up finding a good 350, but I still would love to have a hybrid in the future.
Avoid the 450h. They over did the power draw and had to make ECU adjustments on the 2011 model after seeing a flood of battery problems after 5 years.

Where do you get that from? There is just prelift in 2008 and lift in 2010 models. Originally Posted by 703
