I tried searching but didn't know what terms to use.
When going to start my 350, I depress the brake, the green light comes on, I push it like normal and the steering wheel starts to come down half way, then the whole car just shuts off. About 30 seconds later the power comes on and sometimes this process repeats itself and sometimes it starts up.
Once it starts everything seems to be fine, but I get scared to take it out now because I never know when it will or won't start.
Do you think this is a battery or alternator issue or something else?
It very well could be the battery. How old is yours? Take it to an Advance or Autozone store and they will test both the battery and the alternator in the car. They can tell you if either one needs replacing or not. This is the simplest and cheapest thing to do and should be done before you start looking for anything else.
Battery or bad battery terminals, if they look bad best to just replace them. I used toyota yaris terminals as they were cheap on ebay and were the exact same as the GS.
This was embarrassingly stupid but I’m glad. I went to go check the age of the battery and it said 9/10 (I bought the car 10/29) it’s a 2010.
I went to lift up the terminal covers and the negative slipped right off! I’ll take an embarrassing 3 turn with a wrench over a hard fix any day though!!
