Default 2011 GS stiff steering wheel

Didn’t see a thread so asking what should I look for as the steering wheel is stiffer then before when I start the car and it’s stiff while I am driving it. Any suggestions to look into this problem. Thanks

Sounds like your tires maybe low on air, that would be the first thing to check.

That was the first thing I checked and it was at the correct PSI. Thanks for the reminder.

What kind of steering system does our GS have? It doesn’t seem to use steering fluids.

It is power assisted with a servo motors on the steering column under the speedo/dash area. There is no fluids at all, what it does is when the sensors sense steering movement and right away assist with electrical motors.

So if it’s electric like a arcade steering wheel then this could be very expensive or could it be there isn’t enough current going to the unit since it’s the original battery from 2011

hahaha @ arcade steering wheel! Maybe your steering needs to be recollaborated, I believe theres a procedure for it, you might want to check online. Charging issues do happen and that they do affect the steering, but usually it throws an error code when that happens. But I would still test your charging system maybe your alternator is slowly dying or bad battery terminals.

Exactly because the system hardly ever goes bad, used parts for the steering are dirt cheap.

Thanks for the info and link. My wife did say the steering wheel does loosens up after a longer drive. I will test the charging system.
Glad I came here first.
