Difficulty reinstalling driver door inner panel

Is there a trick to this? I removed the door panel so I could remove the mirror to check on some rust that was forming beneath the mirror. And now I can't get the door panel back on. Is there a trick to getting it over the metal weld, particularly towards the front? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

photo of what you're talking about? I'm having difficulty imagining what you're referring to.

FWIW: I take the door panel, top first, push REALLY HARD towards window, and take my free hand, and smack the panel down moderately hard. It'll lock in place with the window's rail.

From there, I just take my palm and lightly smack all the rivets into the door's frame.

Done this maybe 15-20 times now.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got it in. I couldn't get the top part of the panel over the rail, specifically the end closest to the mirror. I finally got it to go, not exactly sure how, but like you, I hit on top of it with my hand until it went down securely into place.

yup! First time I did it, i had a little difficulty too... but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple.

push TOWARDS door, and then take palm and smack down.

It also helps to have the window rolled down too.

Glad you got the panel to sit in though.
