Can not believe she did this
as the title says,
So here goes. My day off, wife decides to take the lexus (my Gs300) instead of her ford to work. Not really a big issue as we trade cars back and forth every now and then. she brings car back from work with no issue. I go out to start car, move the seat bc she a little person (lol) and to my surprise check engine light pops on followed by the good ol VSC light. I know i was low on gas and oil before she took the car, and surely she is smart enough to put gas in it, and the oil wasn't low enough to cause an issue, it was maybe a half qt low. So I go through all the motion i know to check and listen for and honestly its running fine, but these damned lights are on WTH.
To make a long story short, she did put gas in it for me like a loving woman she is.........but thats the problem.......instead of putting premium in it she used mid grade......
Am I ok to run just the tank of med through it? How *****ed am I?, bc both check engine/VSC light is on. The car runs fine right now, what should I do?

I think you’re fine. She most likely failed to securely click the gas cap 3 times after refueling. 3rd Gen models had issues with the seal around the gas cap eventually causing a vacuum leak. My check engine and VSC lights were on months ago. Thanks to this forum I was able to determine it was the OEM gas cap. Ordered a replacement on E bay for $8 bucks and the check engine and VSC lights went off within 36 hours after the install.
As for the oil, it’s no biggie. 3rd Gen models are notoriously thirsty when it comes to oil consumption. Just add 1qt and try to have it changed every 2500 - 3000 miles if it’s a high mileage car.

drive on it but dont beat on it....
Knock sensors can only go so far... it detects knock as soon as it happens, not before it happens.... therefore take it easy on the pedal until you expend the entire tank.
You're perfectly fine otherwise.... like others have said... loose cap or broken seal... just an $8 fix.
EDIT: can you swing by your local autoparts store and pull codes? That'd help us determine what's up a lot better than blindly giving u suggestions.
