HQ aftermarket vs OEM? what do you think
Guys,
I started replacing several parts on my GS as a preventative measure and as you know some OEM parts are extremely expensive, i would like to know how would you rate the following quality brands against each other:
OEM
Gates
Denso
Dyco
Aisin
I heard that some of them may exceed OEM parts! can you share your experience and thoughts to help other members like me?

Some of those companies make the parts Toyota puts in their cars.
Aisin is a Toyota brand. Don't hesitate to buy an aisin part from an authorized reseller. There could be fakes on eBay.
Denso is also well known Japanese parts maker. Don't hesitate on authentic denso parts. Denso is also used by the factory.
Can't speak for dayco(?)
Gates is known for making belts and does make belts that Honda uses from the factory. Their timing belt/ water pump kits are mostly good but can contain some Chinese parts. I used one of their kits with no issues on my TL.

ez12a is right. OEM does not mean TOYOTA-branded parts, they're actually denso, aisin, kyb and etc from japan.
What parts are you trying to get? Maybe we can steer you in the direction of all OEM-generated parts from manufacturers

nothing in particular, all i want is to know if something breaks down, is it ok to get a part from these vendors (if they have it) and expect to last as long as OEM. (e.g. thermostat, radiator, spark plugs...etc).

I wouldn't worry too much about those brands listed. They are connected to the OEM in one way or the other. But I would try to stay with aftermarket parts that are designed for a particular market (ie, don't use Bosch or Champion spark plugs in a Japanese car, etc.)
They may not last as long as OEM. The aftermarket parts scene caters to the consumers but they should meet or exceed OEM specs for use on our vehicles.

Tier 1 products (companies that supply to OEMs) from an authorized reseller are usually ok. I know Denso is the OEM for the plugs and probably go into the same box for Toyota. I used their twin tip Iridiums in my Fords too and they are great.
