Buying a used Lexus GS
First off -Hey guys hope you guys are all doing good
so I was tryning to buy a used Lexus GS 300 2006 because that is the cheapest and most of them come with around 120k milies for around 7.5k and I need a car that would last me atleast 6-8 most likely would keep it until it dies, you think Lexus with around 120k I would need it to last atleast 220k 😔😔 would be a good choice or just go with a Honda or something? And also people are telling me Lexus is a expensive car to keep moving like they would tell me if you need to replace the alternater would be around 1000- to 1500 and for radiator n things like that... I thought I would ask the people who actually own them
thanks for the help guys
sorry if typos on the phone typing

Find a 2007 or newer (GS350 vs GS300). You will be happy you did.
You might be lucky enough to find a good GS300, but if you do a forum search and study, you'll go with the GS350.

Pole Position
I have a 2006 and it runs great with no issues, you can get a gs350 if you want. Dont know if you are mechanically inclined, but you can save some money if you do it yourself.

Low ball the seller by offering $7.2K
For a 2006 GS 300 with only 120K miles, that would be a steal of a price in my opinion.
I love my 300, but the 350 has more power and a quieter interior ride.
As for cost of ownership, I’d say the warnings are overblown.
I order my parts from Ebay, Amazon and LexusPartsNow. I also have a technician who specializes in Japanese imports so my labor costs are similar to that of a Toyota Camry. In the past several months my 2006 GS has been a joy to drive. My costs includes.
- New tires and wheel balancing $741
- Replaced ballast for HID headlight $89 (part OEM from Amazon)
- Replaced actuator-assembly in power folding mirror $278. (Part from LexusPartsNow) $100 cheaper than dealership.
^^ Most of these issues were general maintenance and age related parts that ran through their lifespan. No engine troubles to report. If you can get the GS 300 for the $7.5K asking price (or under) I say go for it. Keep a small budget for general maintenance and avoid the dealerships. You can easily get 250-300K miles out of that car with proper care. Use ValvolineMax Synthetic Blend for high mileage vehicles if you make the purchase.
much luck.
