evap smoke test

Default evap smoke test

Im getting an evap leak code on my 3gs.....I was gonna go the diy smke test route but i had a question about where i should introduce the smoke on our cars ? anyone have the best location to introduce the smoke to the system. Also is there any preping i need to to do to do the smoke test

There should be a green cap near intake where you can screw in an adapter if you dont have a adapter just remove the line from the intake before the purge valve. You need to smoke towards the purge valve to make that is not sticking open. Then smoke back towards the fuel tank. At this point you will need to close the vent valve by the fuel tank either manually with a plug or clamp. If you have techstream you should be able to command it closed with the computer. Make sure the pressure on the smoke machine is not too high should only be around 0.5 psi. I normally see a leak in the rubber line going down the right side under the intake tube going in to the hard line. The rubber tends to dry and crack there.
