Default One headlight intermittent, codes showing (B2413 / B2418)

Hi all, my first proper post (I did do a welcome post...).

My right dipped headlight sometimes works, sometime doesn't. I haven't noticed any pattern in this, and I haven't noticed if it works on the main beam or not when the failure occurs, it seems random. I have changed the bulb (actually both - they were old), but no difference. I have two codes that could be related:

B2413 Headlight Swivel Motor RH
B2418 Headlight Beam Level Control Motor RH

Is there a chance that the codes are related? In any case, what do they mean? I heard that it's really unusual for the motors to fail, and it's usually a sensor, but I have no idea if that's an urban myth. Note, there are no codes for the LH.

And if they are not related, what do I need to do given that I've replaced the bulb already? New ballast?

For full information, another code that I don't think is related, but I'll paste it here because you know better than me...

Check the earths. Theres probably a common earth for the light and the motors. If thats loose or corroded or something it would cause the intermittent headlight operation as well as the motor codes.

I would first check that all cables are correctly plugged and snug to the headlight, also clean the plugs very well and check every connection including ground for that you will have to dismount the front bumper.

Another thing that i could think of... have you ever replaced the right headlight ballast? I am asking because sometimes people make a bad wiring routing when replacing.

When you changed the bulb, did you notice where the ballast plug was routed? Maybe the plug is obstructing the swivel motor to operate and its getting stuck at initial movement. If my theory is correct your bulb may also flicker or turn off because the plug is not getting a solid connection to the bulb since the motors are moving the plug cable.

This is the way the cable should be routed:

And this is the incorrect way I have seen people install them (imagine the RED ARROW is the cable) and that obstruct the AFS motors and throw a code.

And the C0200 Front Speed Sensor RH Circuit, have you checked the speed sensor cable and plug? It might be having a bad connection or might be very dirty,

But I am wondering, if its a speed sensor do you have the ABS light on by any chance?

Cashish - I noticed today, the headlight was working, but the codes were still displayed, so I don't think it's a bad shared ground issue.

guzzy92fs - I'll check the cable routing - it's an interesting theory. In your first photo above, does the cable go on the right or left side of the circle? The ABS light isn't on, what's a possible conclusion from that?.

What are you using to read those codes? Those codes might be in history, clear them up and check when they come again.

If the ABS isn't on then your speed sensor is working correctly and you are seeing an old code stored in the ecu.

Cable should come from the bottom if you hold the headlight as its mounted in the car, always opposed to that aluminium brace. See pic for reference:

Well, that was a fail. Turns out I *didn't* change the bulb in question, although I did buy two bulbs. I know this as I was tidying up at home and found the other bulb in its box. So I'm going to change it tomorrow, and as we all know, the intermittent light issue will probably go away.

In other good news, I re-routed the cable which did seem to be a bit stuck, and the codes went away.
