Default 4GS TPMS on my 3GS with aftermarket wheels

I've search and haven't been able to get a for sure answer. Does anyone know if the 4GS TPMS sensor will work on my 3GS?

I had a local tire shop replace my aftermarket wheels. Long story short, those idiots broke my sensor while doing so and replaced it with a regular valve stem. I went eBay on purchase a rebuilt sensor but accidentally bought a 4GS one. It looks almost identical but I am not sure if it'll be able to program with my car. Since they are going on my weds, I'm not worried about fitment. If it works I rather just install it then having to do the whole exchange process.

Thank you!

No one has swapped the 4GS fsport wheels onto their 3GS without having to change the TPMS sensor in it?

Sensors vary based on the year of the car. i.e. a 07 3gs may be different from an 10 because of difference in tech and software used as a later model may have newer tech/software. Even if the sensor you bought is the correct year for your 3gs, it still needs to be programmed for the vehicle via obd and a tpms tool such as a bartech. Just take it to a shop that is reputable and they can usually scan the sensor letting you know if it will work or not.

Your story should've end up with them fixing/buying you a new sensor.

I've seen someone on the FB group running the 4GS rims. not sure if they were using the same TPMS. Also could I use my old rims TPMS on to a new set or rims?

Yes, that is possible and would avoid the programming so long as they don't break the sensor in the process.
