Hey guys. 2006 GS 430 with 18s, 245/40/18. A few days ago I retired my Michelin pilot sport A/S plus tires with 65,000 miles. They were by far the greatest set of tires I ever owned. They are my second set. When it came time to replacing my last set, I put on a set of the new Michelin pilot sport a/S 3. I absolutely hated them. They were incredibly stiff, harsh riding, and very loud on the highway. So, I was able to find a set of new old stock a/S plus and haven't looked back since, that is until now.
i thought about buying the new A/S 3 plus tires but Michelin told me they were basically the same tire as the A/S 3, so that wasn't an option.
These DWS06 are really nice tires. They are incredibly quiet and very comfortable. They also handle very well. However, I have this squirm thing going on on the highway. The car doesn't feel stable at all. It almost feels like the tread is so deep that it is deforming as im driving.
Is this something that will correct itself over time?
Maybe you have a defective tire or maybe you need an alignment. Also, make sure they mount it correctly (inside/outside). My DWS handles wonderfully on the highway.
I have about 800 miles on them, but all highway miles. The best way to describe them is squirmy, darty, kind of darting left and right ever so slightly but just not straight, like the tread is so deep that it's deforming under the weight of the car. Does that make sense?

How do I know if they're mounted correctly? Which part of the tread should be on the inside?

Yeah that makes sense – it may be that the DWS has smaller tread blocks which deflect more under load. Was the alignment checked when you got them put on?
And you can see if a tire is mounted correctly by seeing if the word OUTSIDE is on the outer sidewall
I did not have the alignment checked, primarily because the car tracked perfectly straight prior to getting the new tires and I was able to put 65,000 miles on my last set of Michelin's with perfectly even wear. I'll check to see if the word outside appears on the outer side walls.

The sidewall should say "outside" when you're looking at them.

My GS wasn't stable until I did an alignment. Now it's "tracking" straight instead of "violently" pulling to the left or right. See if you can get an alignment check before you do an alignment.
i think i would increase the tyye pressures a bit at a time it might have squishy sidewalls as you said they are very quiet low pressure tyres always run quiet
just my 2 pennorth
My 2006 GS430 tracks much better when I have 36PSI in the tires instead of the 33PSI listed on the placard... 38PSI also works very well but it will slightly firm up the ride...
