What your next car would be?
Today, I went to the Lexus dealer to have my oil changed on my 2006 GS300. I looked around the dealership and noticed that almost all of the interiors look the same - boring, with the exception of the LC500. Then, I walked across the parking lot to the BMW dealer and found the one...a very sexy 2017 M4 in silver. Fantastic looking seats, carbon fiber roof, nice rims in black with black kidney grills. Unfortunately, after the Lexus World Class inspection, they could not find anything wrong with my car. So, I will have to wait about 4 years until its not worth repairing. At that point, the M4 will half its current value.
More realistically, the 2018 Toyota Camry XSE in white with black top and red interior will be very doable right now.

To me I'd rather keep my GS and not drive a 2018 Camry.
I had 2 GS 350 that I sold, went to a 335i definitely not impressed, went to a 4GS, went to a CLA45, now I am back in a GS 460 and can't be happier. It is comfortable as hell and the looks of the 3GS is just something I love. Like someone else said, the newer body styles are not that appealing.
The Porsche Panamera is definitely one of my favorite cars and it would be more appealing if there is a Porsche and a Lexus in your driveway.
All right this is an interesting topic to see what other 3th genners are up to afther their car. I absolutely love my GS450h in every way but there is one serious issue with it ... trunk space. Even my friends Corsa has more space. I really really think that it's a big failure of Lexus to not offering a Brake/Shooting Brake version of the GS. That is why for my next car it will be probably a Merc E hybride Estate. Here in Europe, specially in Belgium big engines are very very very heavy on taxes. I pay about 2000 usd every year just on road tax and currently they are making new rules that limit your access to big cities based on the CO2 emission. I also like the Merc CLS Shooting break from the previous and first generation (please don't hate me now).
On the other hand my son is becoming mad when I tell him I want to buy a Merc
he absolutely wants me to by a second hand LS600h and I must admit ... My God What a machine it is. However I'm afraid prices for parts are even more expensive on that one and the GS is already demanding

I honestly drove a 2015 RX and I really LOVED how the transmission works, it was like my previous ES but a bit better. The one in the GS is not that great at low speeds and very annoying. Even if I'm driving at 30 KM/H and floored it, it WON'T shift to first gear to have most power, instead it will stay in second until 100-110 KM/H and the car is very slow at that gear, unless I shift it manually to first. But at higher speeds it's better and shifts faster.
And for the steering, my car does provide feedback maybe because it's an AWD, I haven't driven a RWD though.

The electric power steering is a bit too boosted, especially for a "sports sedan" that the GS is supposed to be. I'd expect this kind of steering in the ES or LS. I was driving a Honda Accord just before I got my GS350, so compared to that, the GS has nothing. My brother had a 2GS, and that had much better steering.

I've recently been looking at a used Infiniti M56 near me, may go for a test drive, 0-60 in the high 4s for a full size four door sedan is very good especially for 16k with under 100k. That's even faster than my 460. Not sure what reliability would be like though

I bought a used 2002 Subaru wrx as a daily b/c I my GS was more on the tamed/luxury side, the GS is perfect for me as a weekend car. But being that I work nightshift, driving home in the morning that's tamed & rides on clouds, really made me more sleepy. That's when I purchased the wrx, if only the GS came stick shift, I wouldn't have bought the daily.
Thinking about a 5th gen wrx sti in manual, in other words something fun. I'll still keep the GS for days I wanna drive a bit in class, the wrx will be more for fun.

And thanks, it really is an incredible car – a full size sedan with a Ferrari V8! And at this point, the early QPs with the duoselect transmission (i.e. the proper transmission) are so cheap it's almost rediculous!
I love those quattroportes and have a been around a few examples since the owners purchased them new, but unfortunately they are cheap for a reason. In terms of "exotics" they aren't bad, but I wouldn't subject one/trust one for daily driver duties. Sound nice though and the design is definitely more stricking than the new ones
Well actually, I did quite a bit of research on the Maserati forums before taking the plunge, and the consensus was that daily driven QPs tend to have the fewest problems as long as owners are diligent with preventative maintenance, never delay or defer repairs, and replace the battery every few years. A friend of mine actually daily drove his for several years, and still drives it frequently, and it has been completely reliable
The real trick with buying a QP is to find one with most or all of the service records and an owner who treated the car well. In fact, the owner is probably the biggest variable in terms of how much expensive unscheduled maintenance you're likely to need
And I totally agree about the new QPs not looking as good as the previous generation QPs – sadly, Fiat Chrysler is ruining the Maserati brand

I've heard the same thing about the Quattroportes. Maserati geared them more to be a daily driver than sports car, but they're very capable of both. Now, the GranSports, on the other hand.... Holy crap, some of the worst cars ever made. As long as you're proactive with the maintenance, and the previous owner was as well, you shouldn't have much to worry about! They sound amazing.
If you buy an Infiniti that is still under the factory powertrain warranty, you can get a bumper-to-bumper warranty through Infiniti for a reasonable price. Infiniti of Scottsdale and Circle Infiniti in NJ offer the best prices. I had a 2005 Infinit Q45 with this warranty and it saved thousands. It then transferred to the new buyer when I sold the car and he let me know they covered a ton of stuff ($5k worth) right before the warranty expired. The M56 has its share of issues, so I wouldn't buy one without this warranty.

And yeah the only thing about the QP that I don't like is that there's no Maserati equivalent of the bootleg $20 Techstream we all know and love – the only reliable software is either the Ferrari/Maserati factory scantool or an aftermarket one called Leonardo, and they're both around $20,000
I have a few extra cars in the garage and decided to sell my mint 2006 LS 430 to my brother and keep the low mileage(38K miles) 2006 GS430, that I inherited from my mother. Have an emotional attachment to the this GS430 but I also love the car. Since getting it up here to WI from FL, I have sorted it out and everything is perfect on it and it now looks new. So far I am planning on keeping this as my NEXT car. LOL... If I get bored with it, I will take out my 1990 low mileage Jag XJS V12 that is parked next to it. Luckily that car also is mint and so far zero issues with it. Knock on wood LOL.
