Unhappy Murky HIDs

Hey guys,

I just installed a set of XenonDepot 6500k HIDs, and I'm really fond of the new color. However, as I'm starting to pay closer attention to the headlights, I'm noticing that my headlight seems murky, where there's almost a holographic reflection on the lens itself. I don't remember how the headlights looked before I installed them, and I can't find any threads that pertain to my issue at-hand. From what I've heard, changing the HIDs under the appropriate wattage shouldn't cause any melting or harm in general, but the lights are always warm to the touch after I drive, which I like to believe is normal, but am unsure of if it really is. Again, I don't remember how they were before I installed them.

There used to be condensation in the headlight, so the only solution I have is that it's the leftover residue that's causing it. The output is perfectly fine, and it's unnoticeable in daylight. Has anyone experienced something similar to this or does anyone have a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Richard

If you had condensation within the housing, moisture/dirt probably got inside the housing. The main way I know to fix this is bake open the light and polish the inside and outside of the clear outer lense.

Are you positive it's all on the inside of the housing? Maybe try a quick cut and buff on the outside first, then see if it's still there. That's exactly how mine look after they get a little dirty, but once I wash them, they're crystal clear again. Besides that, your best bet is breaking them open and polishing them up. Also, you mentioned that there used to be condensation inside - did you break them open to clean them and re-seal? If so, did you use any sort of wax on the inside? That can cloud up over time as it degrades.
