Default 2006 GS300 Maintenance

Hi,
I am thinking about buying a 2006 GS300. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on what the maintenance schedule and costs would be like for me in the coming years of ownership?

Many thanks for your advice.

Cheers

Change transmission fluid (NOT "lifetime" fluid), understand these cars have typical direct injection carbon buildup issues you may have to deal with, but other than that - normal stuff like changing oil and fixing what breaks: water pump, alternator, CV axles, door hinge drilling, and dash rattles (things I've had to deal with on mine).

I have a 2008 GS350 and, while the maintenance schedule is fairly similar to the GS300, the costs can vary depending on if you go to an independent shop or a Lexus dealership. I typically take my vehicle to a Lexus dealership, and have recently replaced/serviced the following items:
  • Front Struts: $1,350 + $129.95 Alignment cost
  • Passenger-Side Wheel Hub: $970 (I hit a pretty serious pot hole)
  • Stabilizer Bar bushings: $200.20 (a common wear item)
  • Drive Belt (for the accessories): $254.47 (I have over 90,000 miles; it is suggested to replace this item between 90-100,000 miles)
  • Wiper Blades (Genuine Lexus): $57.47
  • Alternator (a frequent weak spot for these vehicles, aside from the water pump): $1075.00
Dealer service isn't cheap but I like the peace of mind knowing that all parts are genuine, the repairs are completed in a timely manner, and all work/parts/accessories are warrantied thru Lexus. You typically won't have to spend money on wheel hubs or struts, so don't let that scare you off.

Hope this helps!

My 2006 with 125K, the following (major) things have been replaced
1. Waterpump, plugs, piston rings 80k miles (carbon buildup)
2. LF wheel bearing 92k
3.Y-Pipe 95k miles
4. Emergency brake cables 96k miles
5. Front struts and endlink 119k miles.
6. Starter and 02 sensor 123k miles

Hopefully nothing for a while. I did a trans drain and fill and differential (front and rear) drain and fill at 111k miles.
