It has to do with the shape of the cooling vanes on the interior of the rotor. When the rotor is spinning, the vanes cause it to act as a pump that moves air between the rotor faces, which cools the rotor. When the rotor is on the wrong side, the rotor is spinning in the wrong direction and the rotor isn't cooled as efficiently

The rear rotors aren't directional because they have a different vane structure. The rear brakes don't do much braking so the rotors don't get as hot, so they can have a less efficient vane design that's cheaper to manufacture

Great explanation ,THANK YOU for great presentation.
I just checked on my gs450 and you are completly right. I can see on my rotors directional fins outside and when you flip rotor there is fins inside too.
Now because you explained to me what is difference I am ordering xross drilled rotors front and rear and semi metalic brake pads aftermarket .Will post updates and pictures.

Right now I have on GS450h OEM rotors with after market TOVASTY brake pads. I guess time for changes is now.

THANK YOU SODIUM.!!!!
