Default P2714 and P0761 on 06 GS300

Found transmission issues. Searching this forum gave one of the parts but need the other.

P2714 > Pressure control solenoid 35290-34010

P0761 > solenoid C 35240-500xx ???

Thanks.

Looks like there are four solenoids with part numbers 35240-500xx (where xx=30, 40, 50, 60).

Here's a diagram showing the solenoids and the other valve body components.

EDIT:
  • 35240-50030 = 35240 (NO. 1)
  • 35240-50040 = 35240 (NO. 2)
  • 35240-50050 = 35240 (NO. 3)
  • 35240-50060 = 35240 (NO. 4)

Those solenoids are expensive, might just need a good cleaning. See the little filters, they are easily clogged. This one is the TCC control, Torque Converter Clutch, others are similar.

We called the tranny place. We asked the guy to translate C to a number, I only saw 1-4 earlier on diagrams. It seems they are the same (1-4).

@ServerTech. This is my aunt's car. They took it to a mechanic. Figured get the part as requested, in case issues come up. They are charging her over 500 so if we ask them to clean and issue comes up, they might blame it on not getting a new part. Since the shop was mentioning full retail, I figured I could order it for her online.

I hear you about the parts cost, but the trans shop wont warranty parts you bought and bring to them. Just pay the $500+ and get a written guarantee. If anything goes wrong in xx months its on them, not blamed on parts you bought on the internet. My mechanic friends hate when people do that! LOL

Do you know if the tranny fluid has ever been replaced?

It was replaced the first time they took it to the mechanic. I told them they should have done that and replace in their other cars as well, its not lifetime.

Story: What I heard was that tranny was toast. They took it to dealer and dealer said replace only (5K). They got it back and then took it to a place someone recommended. When I visited their house, I scanned it and got P2714 and P2757. The took it to mechanic, where they were told no need to replace and changed ATF. Today they went back for tranny issue and got info back as P2714 and P0761. They wanted to replace solenoids, 500-700.

My trans fluid was super nasty at only 62K miles. If they just dumped the trans fluid and replaced it, assuming its a RWD car, not AWD like mine, then its only 2.75 quarts out of like 14 quarts they changed. That wont do much and I'm not surprised the problems persisted. But if they removed the pan and cleaned out the crap stuck to the magnets like I did to mine, changed filter, then added fluid, that would have been better. Either way I would follow up with 2 more drain/refills at 2.75 quarts each to clean the fluid before I wrote the trans off. Then drive it easy for a few hundred miles, see how she's doing.
The Dealer will always sell the $5,000 transmission replacement as they KNOW the job will be done for another couple years with a guarantee. And they make a lot of profit.
I think these are great transmissions, they just need the trans fluid changed every 40K miles for a happy life.

Yep this is a good thing to do before taking the tranny apart – dirt interfering with the solenoid is more likely than the solenoid itself failing. If it's very badly clogged though, there may not be sufficient flow of clean fluid through the solenoid to clean it in a reasonable amount of time

Also, according to my (GS350) owners manual, the RWD tranny holds 8.5qts of fluid, so the RWD 300 tranny probably holds around the same volume (just speculating though since I don't have a GS300 manual to verify this)

There was talk of 9 solenoids which might lead to cost of 2700 so my aunt asked me to visit that mechanic shop today. What they said was first drain of the fluid was pitch black. They did 3x flushes, its still bownish-pink. They drove the car again and got another intermittent code P0751 solenoid A. So they did not want to conclude that replace 2 will fix it. Later down the road another one might come up. They wanted to wait and see how many will come up. So far P2757, 2714, 0761, 0751.

They said they give her the option of rebuild, dealer reman, and new. They said reman is best vs rebuild, 4800 vs 1800.

If I'm reading this right, you can get a remanufactured tranny for $2800 after the core charge is refunded. That's assuming the shop is willing to play ball, of course, since shops usually make their profit from parts sales

I will check this out. Will find out how the core works. If we have to ship this to them then I wonder what the freight charge is. I will call lexuspartsnow and see.
