Default 2006 GS300 Drive Front Axle Boot

Club Lexus...

Need some help on this matter. Apparently my front driver side INNER AXLE BOOT is torn...? Lexus has quoted nearly $1100 for this.

I've seen a Inner/Outer Boot Kit for $70 part#04428-30101 that can be used. Car has 112k miles on it. Grease/oil is apparently everywhere as my mechanic has stated. I don't hear any grinding only a brief wobble when turning at low speeds.

What have people done in this case? Do I need to replace the hole axle or can the boot be replaced instead? Seems parts are limited for this issue.

Any help would be appreciated

Leave it until it starts to make noises then replace the whole axle with an aftermarket set. Its easier to just replace cv axles vs replacing the boots.

They do make universal split cv boots, to where you can cut your old boot and simply slide a new boot with clamps.

The aftermarkets are pretty cheap at a $100 a side http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-New-CV-Axl...tULE26&vxp=mtr

ibidu1...thank you.

One mech recommended they could use a WorldPac part. Are those any good and has anyone had any problem with aftermarket axles for this car?

I did, bought a set off eBay. 3 months later the boot was torn, thought I had time until the axle went out 2hrs away from home, I'll add that I'm lowered about an 1 1/2" but that's still way too fast for the axle to fail.

Well that sucks! Have you tried seeing if oreally sells cv axles? 1.5" drop shouldnt tear up a cv boot so fast.

No I think it was more of the quality of that specific brand of axle. No I didn't look anywhere else I bought a low mileage used axle and rebooted myself, but I'm sure you can find better quality aftermarket axles now, I'm seeing more options out there.
