Impressions on a 06 300
So i went through Carmax and got them to ship me a 06 gs300 awd. I do like the car but was wondering on a few things. It does have kinda high mileage at 109k and the only issues i saw was a stiff rear driver door and "squishy" braking. (Which they will be fixing)
now i would typically research a ton on a car before buying one but im in a POS Impala and i need to get out of it. are there any known issues i should definitely look for? also i do plan on buying a extended warranty. and also i feel the price is kinda high at 15k for the car and 15800 out the door. I loved all the little gadgets like heated/cooled seats and indash... im gonna also assume it has navigation? (couldnt figure out how to work it)

Lexus Master Technician here,
Do not but this car. Especially at that price. The 2006 GS300 is easily the worst car Lexus has ever made. Carbon builds up on the valves, and falls into the cylinders causing deep grooves in the clyinder walls. This causes the vehicle to burn excessive amounts of oil, and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire engine block. Get a 2007+ GS350, and you will hardly see any problems

I had a 300. Got it for 9k with 130k miles. Didn't do my research and found out I potentially bought a pos. The car had the rebuilt engine but still would eventually have carbon build up. Found a rare 08 gs460 and traded in the gs300. Never looked back. You can do way better for 15k. I got my 460 for 17k with 90k miles.

I would pass on this and look @ a Gs460, however, a lower mileage 430 can be found for much less.
This is in the classifieds. Offer to pay 1/2 for transport and negotiate.

have heard of this issue as well and narrowly avoided the purchase myself (thank you, clublexus forum!)...i just bought an 08 gs350 with 130k miles in cleveland, OH...listed at 11.5k, talked down to 10.5k. never been happier and you can do much better for 15k.
